BAGS ARE DONE!!

Well I finally got the four bags that I have been working on for the last couple of weeks done. Doesn’t it always happen that when you are the busiest someone wants a custom order, which of course is wonderful! I always feel blessed when I get a custom order. This person saw one of my bags that I have for sale at my summer market and ordered three bags in that design in three different sizes; small, medium and large and one of my messenger bags. She wanted a matching set. I must say the large one was a treat to do. Guess how many squares I had to cut…..that’s right….349!! I was pretty buggy eyed after that. And you know what my sewing room was like when I was done. I do have a tendency to throw everything on the floor. J

What is the hard part is reconfiguring the pattern to fit the dimensions she wanted. I like to do it on scratch paper and doodle it all up.

Now that these are done I can get back to resupplying my stock for the summer markets. Seems I just keep selling and have a hard time getting the stock back up. Oh my….what a dilemma to have right. J  Here is a picture of two of the bags. This is the small one and the messenger bag.

So what are you working on this week? Anyone done any shows this summer yet? If so, how did they go?

I posted another summer salad recipe for you. This one is  good for on the go. Just make it the day before.

Well off to the fabric store to get more fabric………….love those shopping days!! J

ACCESSORIZE YOUR GARDEN

Well made it through another week of the summer markets. Both Saturday and Wednesday were good and no rain, but I don’t know how long I can keep up this two a week markets. It poops me out and I am getting toooooooooooooooooo old to be doing this. J

Since everyone should be busy working outside in their yards, I thought this week I would post an article from the Country Register on decorating your garden.  Of course, then we have to find time to do this. Here it is:

Make your garden your own by bringing some of your treasures outdoors to create unique focal points. Your garden will be brimming with personality when you incorporate some of the following into your garden theme.

Vintage Tricycle – A vintage tricycle makes a grand statement nestled amongst your flowers. Add a bit of whimsy by hanging a primitive sign from the handle bars.

Old Chairs – Set a pot of trailing flowers on the seat of an adult or child-size chair. Don’t worry if it is in less than perfect condition.

Birdhouses – Birdhouses are great garden accents. A vintage looking birdhouse complemented by a twig wreath will make the perfect statement nestled on the seat of an old chair. Or mount your birdhouse to a chippy, white, vintage porch post and place next to a flowering shrub or amongst garden phlox or bee balm.

Garden Statues or Stones – Garden statues give added interest and texture to your garden. Tuck a garden stone inscribed with a message amongst trailing ivy to catch the attention of passersby.

Rusted Items – Don’t throw those old rusted items away! Give a child’s high chair new life by adding it to your garden. It will make a great focal point and conversation piece. Other items doomed for the dumpster, such as rusted buckets or enamelware pans with holes in the bottom, make great flower planters.

Things that are weathered and have seen better days are perfect in a garden. Use your imagination when implementing garden art. There is not right or wrong with decorating. It is all about what you love!

Lots of neat ideas in this article. Now my challenge is getting a garden!! Have a few flower pots, but no garden yet. Maybe one of these years we will get something done. Then the moose can come and eat everything. J

Hope everyone has a great week and check out the new recipe for chicken salad. Just in time for the summer picnics to start.
