Fabric Bowl-----I Took A Class

Well the Summer Market season is over for another year. Had a pretty good season. There were a fair amount of summer visitors this year. We did have a few days that we didn't get to even set up as the winds were blowing so hard that the tents would have gone airborne! As it was two of the days we did set up the winds started to blow so hard that we all had to take down fast. There were tents blowing everywhere (even when they are staked down!) and tents were just snapping and breaking. I HATE THE WIND! But other than that it was a good season.

Now that the market is over I am needing to gear up for the fall and Christmas shows. YIKES! I did have a chance to take a class from my local quilt shop which I haven't done in years. I learned how to make one of these fabric bowls. :)

I think they are so nice. You can use all kinds of fabrics and colors. I have all these ideas of colors going through my head now. I thought I would start with fall colors. I just love fall and all the colors. I just can't get enough of them.

This will be the bottom of the bowl.

Then I needed to make the cord that are the sides of the bowl. This can be a little time consuming, but once I got the hang of it it went pretty good.

Had to get a new foot for my machine. It is called a "beading" foot. I didn't even know there was such a thing. It works pretty slick in pulling the fabric and clothes line together to make the cording.

Then you have to sew the cording to the base of the basket so you have to go around and around and around and around some more! Whew....tires your little hand out. :)

After you have sewn all the cording to the base and ended off the cording you are done. Whalla.......a fabric bowl!

The whole process takes some time, but the end product I think is great. Hmmmmm.......looks like some Christmas presents making are in my future. And all those Christmas shows I need to do...yep....bowl making here we come. :)  This bowl is actually going to be available on my Old Farmhouse Gathering Team Harvest Happenings Celebration next week, but I will let you know about that in a few days. :)

Well off to the sewing room....working on some more fall goodies and I am actually finishing up a UFO that I have had for years! Look like it will turn out ok...I will show you when I am done.

Have a great day!

FALL QUILTS

Oh my....I can't believe how long it has been since I posted anything. I can't believe how busy the summers are and my kids are gone! I only have one more Saturday for the summer market this Saturday and then I will be done with that. Bad thing is......have to start planning for the Christmas shows! YIKES!

Fall is beginning to peek it's little head out a little bit up here. Will be in full force in a couple of weeks. Speaking of fall.....I just wanted to share this treasury with you from the QQQ team on Etsy. They have such talented sewers and these quilted items are just so beautiful! Makes me want to get in my sewing room and get busy with fall projects!

Have a great week! :)

CARMEL APPLES...LET'S MAKE SOME

Well fall is here and it is almost time for Halloween so I thought we would make a traditional favorite this time of year. So with the help of my grandkids let's make some caramel apples.

One of our favorite fall snacks is caramel apples. However, we tend to shy away from making them because not only are they messy to make, frankly they are a pain to eat. This fun new twist, inside-out caramel apples, makes them easy to make as well as easy to eat!

What you will need:

1 14 oz bag of caramels
1 1/2 tablespoons of water
2+ apples
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Nuts (optional)

How to make:

1. Heat the caramels and water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until melted. Stir often.

2. Meanwhile, cut apples in half and remove the stem. Using a spoon or melon baller, remove the seeds and core of the apples leaving about 1/4" of apple.

3. Using a pastry brush, immediately brush "apple cups" with lemon juice.

4. After apples have sat with lemon juice for at least 2 minutes, use a paper towel to pat the insides dry.

5. Pour the melted caramel inside of the apples cups.

6. Sprinkle them with nuts if desired.

Once the caramel is completely hardened, the apples can be sliced into wedges.

Hmmmm....makes me hungry just reading this. I use to love to eat caramel apples and yes they were messy, but this sounds like a much better way to get that caramel apple eaten. So head off to the store and get your supplies and enjoy making and eating caramel apples!

Enjoy!

I will have a couple mug rugs or candle mats available for the celebration. They make great candle mats.

These little mini-quilts are great for fall decorating. They don't take up much room on the table or wall. That is what I am all about.....keeping things organized!

Be sure to join us for the Fall Celebration. It starts on Monday, Sept 16th. I will be posting a link on Monday for you to hop on over and visit us.

FARMHOUSE FALL

Well the summer market is finally starting to wind down. I had a tremendous July. It was a lot of fun. Now the fishing is winding down and the tourist are starting to leave so I have a little breathing room. Once the market is done I can get back to sewing for me again....oh wait......then I have to start preparing for the Christmas shows!!! Oh no!!! :)

I really like to do treasuries, but in the summer I just don't get much time to do them so since I have a little time today I thought I would put together a treasury and show you what the OFG Team has in their fall shops. Lots of goodies and wonderful gift items. I just love fall and all the colors! Makes me want to get in my sewing room and start my fall projects. Maybe tomorrow.....there is always tomorrow. Or as Scarlett said....."after all tomorrow is another day". Oh my.....aging myself. :)

 Hope you enjoy.
