Easter Baskets For That Someone Special

We still have a few more days until Easter and we still have time to put those Easter baskets together. Instead of the normal candy in the baskets (of course unless it is chocolate!) why not try one of these ideas for an Easter basket.

  • For the gourmet cook in your house (not my house! LOL!) add some packets of exotic spices and herbs, plus a new cookbook and cooking utensils and place it in a new copper pot.
  • For the bird lover, place some binoculars, a collapsible cup filled with jelly beans and some colorful books on birds into a backpack making a great Easter Nest.
  • For the handyman, fill a tool belt with essential items like wood glue, nails, measuring tape and marshmallow Peeps.
  • For the teenage girl, replace high calorie chocolate candy with her favorite bath products, new dangle earrings, and a gift certificate to her favorite store.
  • For the golfer, replace his old white golf balls with bright pastel ones; (don't know how my son-in-law would like this. LOL!) add some new teas, a colorful new cap, and an appointment for lessons with the golf pro at the club.
  • For the college student, how about an address book, some stamps, pens, and a selection of funny greeting cards. Oh, and don't forget some extra cash.

National Quilting Day!!!

Today is National Quilting Day!! The National Quilting Association started the National Quilting Day in 1991 back in Lincoln, Nebraska. Many quilting guilds all over the country hold special events and quilt shops have special promotions. Many of you live in larger communities that may have celebrations for this day so check them out if you do. :)

So to all my fellow quilters.......Happy National Quilting Day!!

Bias Tape Tutorial

I know there are a lot of different ways to make your own bias tape and I for one do make my own bias tape. I make a lot of pot holders for my summer markets and I like to use colors that compliment the front fabric so I make my own binding.

I know there are fancy machines that will do this, but over at Seamsandscissors there is this little gizmo that I am sure many of you have seen and Portia shows you how to make your own bias tape. Take a look at it and maybe someday I will get one of those gizmos and try it. LOL! :)

Sharpening Your Rotary Blade

I just found this tutorial on Pinterst and thought wow....I need to share this with all of you. Now if you are a sewer and use a rotary cutter you know how frustrating it can be when your blade is dull. I love a new blade, but if you are like me you don't want to keep spending a fortune on new blades so you want to be able to sharpen them.

I even invested in one of those electric sharpeners that didn't work that well and then I went with a hand one that works pretty darn good, but if this method works how handy would this be.

So follow Kari over to ucreatecrafts and see how to do this. Let us know if it works for you. I am going to try it also and see how it goes. :)

Ten Things Your Mother Never Told You

I saw this the other day on my Facebook page and thought I would share it with you. Some of you may have already seen this, but I thought it was nice. I could have saved it for Mother's Day, but I wanted to post it now and after spending the week with my son visiting and talking to my daughter non-stop this really hit home for me. Hope you enjoy. :)

rose

1.   You made her cry......a lot.

2.   She wanted the last piece of pie.

3.   It hurt.

4.   She was always afraid.

5.   She knows she is not perfect.

6.   She watched you as you slept.

7.   She carried you a lot longer than nine months.

8.   It broke her heart every time you cried.

9.   She put you first.

10. She would do it all again.

Have a wonderful day! :)
