BUSY WEEK

Well I was busy, busy last week trying to get product finished for the summer market. I am going to be gone for a few days and the spring shows start when I get back! I think I am ready to go. I really want to be finished with the market merchandise because I would really like to get some quilting done. :)

A couple of years ago I started making these tote bags and people seem to really like them. They are fun to make so I have been making lots of them. I needed to add a few more to my stack of them so I finished these last week.

I wanted something summery so I made this one with daisy. :)

Another big seller during the summer are my mug rugs/candle mats. Up here in the north country everyone wants moose and bears so I make lots of moose and bear things.

What I like about making these little mug rugs is all the different fabrics I get to use from my stash. I like to match the colors and pictures of the fabrics.

So I am glad I have most of my stuff finished. It gets really hectic during the summer and the last two years I have spent most of my time in the sewing room trying to keep up with product so this year I was determined to have plenty of stock for the markets. Now.....let's hope it all sells or I will have to have a garage sale!!  So...what have you been working on lately?

Have a great week!  :)

MORE SEWING TIPS

Time for more sewing tips. I have collected so many ideas and tips over the years and some of them I have tried and some are still on my "list". Many tips I am going to be sharing with you on my blog I have tried. If not....I will be trying them to share them with you. :) Here are a few of them.

I am always losing my seam ripper (and believe me I use it all the time!) so I read this tip and thought....I can do this.  Tape the cap of a ball point pen, open end up, to the front of your sewing machine and when I am not using the ripper I put it in the pen cap. That way I always know where it is.

To make thread behave for applique or regular sewing run your needle and thread through a fresh folded dyer sheet. No more tangles or those tiny little nasty knots!

When I am changing needles on my machine and placing it back in the case so I know which one I had used I put a thread in the eye. That way I know which the new ones are and which are used.

These tips work for me. I always like to try anything that makes my life easier and simple!!

Happy sewing!! :)

CELEBRATING NATIONAL QUILTING DAY

I have been sewing, crocheting, crafting most of my life, but my first love is quilting. I absolutely love to quilt! I don't get to do as much as I would like as I am always working on projects for my Etsy shop and local markets, but today I am celebrating National Quilting Day!

National Quilt Day had its start in 1989 when the Kentucky Heritage Quilt Society organized a "Quilter's Day Out" which was the third Saturday of every March. In 1991 The National Quilting Society really like the concept of having a national day that they started celebrating in 1992 the "National Quilting Day". Over the years it has actually expanded to March being National Quilting Month. Two great celebrations.....National Quilting Month and National Crafting Month! Just gets your creating juices flowing with all these celebrations doesn't it. :)

So for all you quilters out there have a great "Quilter's Day Out"!!

CHERRY PIE BITES

I am working on my goal this year of getting lots of new recipes so I am coming across lots of good recipes. This is one of them. We like pies especially pie and ice cream, but we are only allowed to have a couple of them a year as we would be big as barns if we ate them as much as we would like to. I saw this recipe the other day and thought...oh my......little bitty cherry pies....I need to make these!!! Hubby likes cherry pie, but I am partial to peach. We both like apple so next time I think I will make these with apple.

What you will need:

1 21oz can Cherry Pie Filling
2 tubes crescent roll dough
1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tbsp milk

How to make it:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Spray regular muffin tin with nonstick cookie spray. Unroll individual crescent roll dough pieces and lay them in individual tins. Put the widest bit of the dough in the bottom. You may have to do this in two batches if you only have the one muffin tin like I have.

cherry pie

Scoop pie filling into each crescent roll dough pieces. Be be generous with the pie filling as you want to get the nice cherry taste when you bite into them. It is okay if a little seeps out during baking. I put in a couple of spoonfuls.

Start folding the dough around the filling as best as you can. You should have three corners to pull in. The filling doesn't need to be completely covered.

Bake about 13-14 minutes. Make sure the rolls are cooked all the way as you do not want to bite into them and have some of the roll be doughy. They should have nice tan-brown tops.

baking

Now for the frosting/glaze. In a bowl, whisk together powered sugar and milk until smooth and reaches desired consistency. I tend to like mine a little thick as it always runs down the sides of everything I bake.

recipe

With a spoon, drizzle over the warm bites.

And presto...........you have little cherry pie bites! They are really good I must say and could be eaten all the time if you let yourself so watch out! :)

Enjoy!! :)
