SPRINGTIME BAG

Well another day of snow up here in the north country. We have about 5 inches of new snow now. At least we can be grateful that we don't have as much as last year. Last year we had over 110 inches of snow!!

While looking at all the snow around here all the time I get real anxious for spring to come. Now we don't have the really nice springtime's that most of you all do, but at least the snow and ice are gone. I decided to make a pink tote bag with pretty pastel pink colors in celebration of Valentine's Day and springtime.

cutting fabric
First I had to cut 44 4x4" squares

pink fabric

Then I had to line up 22 squares for each side

After sewing the two sides and cutting a pink lining to match the sides I attached fusible fleece to them, added handles and then walla........a bag!

I really like making these patchwork bags. I have finished lots of different one's. Think I will put them in my shop and do some more for the summer markets around here. Last year they sold really well. I could really use a new one myself for a new sewing bag.....hmmmmm.....which color should I make??

Also want to remind all of you that the EZCraftShow online is starting tomorrow!! So come join us for games, and chit chat and wonderful items to check out. It will go live tomorrow right here

Thanks for stopping. Got a new recipe for you on the left under Recipe Exchange. Sounds good...might have to try it.

Take care. :)

NEW LOOK FOR BLOG

First things first....I changed my blog around some so I could use backgrounds to give my blog a little bit more pazaz and change it with the season. With some help from some wonderful ladies with the Old Farmhouse Gathering I figured out how to do it. What do you think? Do you like it?

Been a busy week so far as I am starting to work on getting things made for the summer season around here. So I have started my list as I love lists and will mark off as I go because that makes me feel like I am accomplishing something.

I also want to get some quilting done as it seems I never have enough time to quilt. Speaking of quilting I ran across these statistics the other day on quilting that I thought were interesting.

According to Quilting in America, the estimated total dollar value of the quilting industry stands at $3.58 billion dollars.

The majority of quilters (85%) have a room dedicated to quilting; in that room are approximately $8,542 worth of quilting tools and supplies, and $3,677 worth of fabric.

Surging on, they own 2.7 sewing machines and 19% spent approximately $2, 679 on a new machine in 2009.

In one year’s time the average quilter buys 93.6 yards of fabric. The average quilter owns 152.8 spools of thread.

I agree totally with the last one as I think I have just about that much fabric on hand. Here is some of my stash.

Well I better get busy and get the snow plowed out from our driveway before the next storm comes thru tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me.
