DOG DAYS OF SUMMER
Boy is this summer flying by. I just don't seem to have any time to get everything done that I need to. The markets have been doing extremely well so I am busy sewing trying to keep up. Sorry I haven't been doing a lot of posting. I will try to remedy this soon. :(
With that said.......the Old Farmhouse Gathering Team is enjoying the Dog Days of Summer so I thought I would share a few items that some of the artisans have to offer. Lots of goodies from this great team! Visit them if you have time and you guys have a great week! Off to the sewing room :)

BEAT THE HEAT RECIPE
Well summer is beginning to heat up and I am sure some of you are having hot weather. Can't say we get "hot" up here, but 70 degrees for us is pretty hot. We get a few 70 degree days a year usually in July.
So if you are needing to cool off from the heat, why not try this treat. It is Lemonade with Berry Ice cubes. It came from Spoonful courtesy of Disney.
So if you are needing to cool off from the heat, why not try this treat. It is Lemonade with Berry Ice cubes. It came from Spoonful courtesy of Disney.
What you will need:
* 1 11.5oz can frozen concentrate berry juice. You can use a mixed berry juice if you like.
* Raspberries or sliced strawberries.
* 2 quarts+ of water.
* 1 1/3 cups sugar.
* 1 1/3 cups lemon juice.
* lemon slices if desired.
How to make it:
1. Combine the juice concentrate and one can of water in a pitcher.
2. Pour the juice mix into two ice cubes trays
3. Add the raspberries or strawberry slices to the juice in the ice cubes. Freeze
4. Combine the 2 quarts of water and sugar in a medium size sauce pan.
5. Bring to a boil, stirring to combine sugar and water until dissolved.
6. Combine the lemon juice with the sugar water. Chill.
7. Put three berry ice cubes into a glass and pour lemonade in.

8. Garnish with a lemon slice if desired.
This is a nice treat to cool off on those hot summer days. When my kids were little I use to also make lemonade ice cubes and then would just take them out of the freezer and crunch on them. These are really easy to make so give them a try! :)
Have a great day! :)

TAKE TIME FOR THESE TEN THINGS
Well now that summer is here and we are all getting busy with our summer plans and playing I thought I would share this list I found somewhere (can't remember) on taking time to do things that enhance your life.
Take time to work - it is the price of success.
Take time to think - it is the source of power.
Take time to play - it is the secret of youth.
Take time to read - it is the foundation of knowledge.
Take time to worship - it is the highway to reverence and washes the dust of earth from our eyes.
Take time to help and enjoy friends - it is the source of happiness.
Take time to love - it is the one sacrament of life.
Take time to dream - it hitches the soul to the stars.
Take time to laugh - it is the singing that helps with life's loads.
Then last but not least.....take time to plan - it is the secret of being able to have time for the first nine things.
So during your busy summer schedule be sure to take TIME........:)
Have a wonderful day!!

WHERE DOES THE TIME GO!!!
Holy Moly....where does the time go!! I can't believe it has been a couple of weeks since my last posting!! Time is just going by so fast. Summers are always so busy for us. I went down to the lower 48 for a family reunion and then we went camping for a week and before I knew it July is almost over!!
How has your summer been going? Have you been doing anything fun? I have been busy with our local summer markets. Actually they have been very good this year. Have been doing well with the sales and have been having fun meeting and visiting with all the visitors to our area. The weather has been just fantastic. Normally we are cold and rainy here most of the summer, but this summer has been unbelievable. We are breaking all kinds of heat (well heat for us) records. We normally have about 5 days in the 70's all summer long and so far this summer we have had 15 days! The skies have been blue and pretty. I keep telling my hubby that if all the summers were like this one I could stand living here. :) It has been a joy.

CELEBRATING THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!
Well summer is finally upon us!! We made it!! It has been busy as usual. I can't believe it is just clicking right along....oh where does the time go. I have been busy with my local market, praying for the fire victims in Colorado and enjoying the sun. Yes.....we even have sun up here in Alaska the last few weeks and temps in the 70's which is unheard of where I live!!
I love to quilt and I just don't get much time to do that so I thought in celebration of the first day of summer I would do a treasury of summertime quilts! So here it is. Hope you enjoy and enjoy your first day of summer!!
