FALL INTO THANKGIVINGS

I wanted to share with you a Fall Celebration that The Old Farm House Gatherings is having on Etsy this week. I am a member of this wonderful team on Etsy and believe me this group has some wonderful items they have created. The Old Farm House Gatherings is a group of wonderful artists that create everything from primitive to folk art to cottage and whimsical. Of course my favorite is primitive/folk art.

Anyway, this team is having a Fall Celebration and many items for these artists are being included in this celebration. The celebration will run until August 27th. There are two ways to find this group of great creations. You can click on the link below or you can go to Etsy Search and type in FITOFG which will bring up the items. Either way you get there I think you will enjoy what you see. There are so many wonderful fall items for you. Lots of decorating ideas:  pumpkins, Thanksgiving, fall/autumn, Halloween and many, many more.  So……just click on the link or head on over to Etsy and expect to be surprised at all the “goodies” this wonderful team has come up with. Hurry before it ends August 27th. ENJOY!!!

ALL ALASKA

I am going to do something different today than I normally do. Today I want to tell you about a wonderful website that we have up here in the frozen land of Alaska. Alaska is a vast state of many wonders and treasures. Since we are so removed from the rest of the country, at times we feel like we are our own country. J  We have many small businesses and artists in this great state. Tourism is a big part of this state, but there are also many, many small family-owned shops and websites. This website gives you the opportunity to visit many shops and sites that are in our great state. If you ever plan on visiting our state there are also B&B’s and retreats featured on this website. I just wanted you to know about this website and all of the wonderful artist and information that are featured on it. Here is the link and come visit when you have time. http://allalaska.blogspot.com/

Hope everyone’s summer is going ok. I know lots of you have had a really hot summer, but it will soon cool down into autumn. Can you believe it that summer is about over and kids are headed back to school soon if not already. This weekend we have to go check our wild raspberry patches to see if they are ready to pick for jelly. Pretty soon we will be thinking about the holidays! OH NO…….I am already behind schedule for that! Oh better not think about it. J

We have a new recipe for you so be sure to check it out and have a great weekend. J

ONE DOWN AND ONE TO GO

Well it has certainly been a busy summer for me so far. As you all know I had been doing two local markets a week. I must say it definitely kept me hopping trying to keep up with replenishing what we had sold. The Wednesday market is now over so I am down to only the Saturday market. It is nice not to be so pushed all week long. I did pretty well at the Wednesday market and since this was my first year doing it I can say it was worth doing. The biggest seller was my husband’s cutting boards and my potholders. What is really nice is to think that people are willing to spend their hard earned money on something that we make. Makes us feel pretty good. My Alaska potholders have been doing really well and I also embroider Alaska designs on denim shirts that the tourists really buy. These are the fabric prints of a couple of the potholder designs I have done. I hand stitch Alaska on them. People seem to like it that they are handmade and hand stitched.

My husband’s boards have really sold well. There have been several days that I sell every one that I took with me. Kept him really busy trying to make more.

Well now that I have a little more time before the fall and holiday crunch I can get busy on doing some quilts that I have been wanting to get to, but just haven’t had the time. I have sooooooo many ideas rattling around in this empty head of mine that I want to do. I was reading an article the other day and came across the “Ten Commandments of Quilting” that I thought I would share with you.

Thou shalt not do buttons
Thou shalt sew quarter inch seams
Thou shalt leave no bolt unturned
Thou shalt not rip – only unsew
Thou shalt not envy thy neighbor’s stitches
Thou shalt never pass a quilt shop
Thou shalt cook and clean but once a week
Thou shalt never quilt tomorrow what you can quilt today
Thou shalt not covert they neighbor’s stash
Thou shalt not reveal funds spent on quilting supplies.

I think I should live by this. What do you think? I especially like the one that I should never pass a quilt shop…….ya……that sounds good. J

Now that I am not so crunched for time I will get back on track with my blog here. Or at least that is my plan.

I have several new recipes that I have been storing up to share with you so please take a look at them.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful rest of the week. J
