GIRLFRIEND WISDOM...

Time for another installment of  "Girlfriend Wisdom" by Jody Houghton. I love reading all of her "wisdom" stories. This one is called HOPE.

saying

Hello! My name is HOPE. I have gathered some fabric and thread. My plan is to create a quilt for my girlfriends FAITH and CHARITY.

Hopefully, it will turn out as special as my mind's-eye thinks it will be. Hopefully, my colors are pleasing. Hopefully, the pattern I am making will be quick and easy. Hopefully, all my seams will match. Hopefully, I can get it finished on time. Hopefully, my girlfriends will love it.

Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully. Being filled with hope is good, but just being hopeful will not get the project complete. Being diligent, focusing, and sitting down at my sewing machine is the only way to finish my project. However, hope is very important because it is the power that will motivate me, encourage me, and excite me to keep working until I can wrap my gift and present it.

My GIRLFRIEND WISDOM is to pay attention to all of your hopes and all of your dreams. Be your own cheerleader! Turn up the power on your desires with hope-filled thoughts and words. Hope is the strong yet unseen hero behind our best work and deepest desires.

Ok, I'm ready to begin my quilt! I know it is going to be wonderful!                                                                               Reprinted by permission from The Country Register of Minnesota

These stories always lift my spirits and give me that good fussy feeling! Guess I need to get busy quilting now. :)

Enjoy your day and live your dreams! :)

RECIPE FOR SNOW...

snow

I know many of you have been buried in snow and freezing temperatures. Surprisingly, and very uncommon for up here, we are warm and mild. Usually this time of year we are buried in snow and below zero weather, but this year it is just upside down up here. We are in the 40's (April temp!) and it has been raining for weeks...yep...raining in January! Bad thing is that when it rains it melts all the snow and since the ground is frozen all the water just sits and freezes at night so we have ice everywhere! Very treacherous walking. That is why I live in my cleats in the winter.

So to help some of you that have snow everywhere here is a little something to do with all that snow......

What you will need:

1 gallon of snow
1 cup of white sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of milk

cooking

How to make it:

recipe for snow

1. When it starts to snow, place a large clean bowl outside to collect the flakes or collect some already clean fallen snow in the gallon bucket or bowl. Do not pack the snow, just scoop it.

2. Mix together the milk, vanilla, and sugar

3. Slowly add this mixture to your snow. Stir in just enough to desired consistency. Serve at once.

This might be something fun that you and your kids or grandkids can do while passing the time when it is snowing outside. Oh my.....I just looked outside and it is raining again!! :(

Have a great day!! :)

PURPLE....LOVE PURPLE

I really like purple and lavender these days. I use to love everything blue and now as I get older my favorite colors seem to change a lot. I like red too and sometimes green, but lavender is beginning to catch my eye. So being that said......I thought I would show you this treasury that I was in. I thought it was just so pretty with all the purple and white. Hope you enjoy. :)

Have a great weekend!!

PERSONALIZED PILLOWS

I make these little stitchery pillows for my Etsy shop and I have had several request to personalized them with different words so I thought it might be a good idea to offer this as an option for them. Since I draw them from my own patterns I can put any words and names on them that is needed. So.....how do you think that sounds?

I can put a child's name on this or a friends name on it. I think that would be neat.

I can put people's last name on these type of pillows. That would make it special. :)

I just thought since I was getting request to change these designs that I would make it easier for people to get what they want. I think maybe in the "off" season I may come up with some more designs. I have several, but need some new one's to add to them. Guess that means I need to get my thinking cap on. :)

Let me know what you think. :)
