More Did You Know

Boy time just flies by doesn't it. Can't believe it is almost April. I have been busy getting merchandise made for the summer markets and festivals. What have all of you guys been up to lately?

Hubby and I have been busy on making these candles and mats. The tourist love to take these home with them. :)

So I thought it might be time for some more..........did you know......:)

  • Bee stings - meat tenderizer
  • Chigger bite - Preparation H
  • Puffy eyes - Preparation H
  • Paper cut - crazy glue or chap stick (glue is used instead of sutures at most hospitals)
  • Stinky feet - Jello !
  • Athletes feet - cornstarch
  • Fungus on toenails or fingernails - Vicks vapor rub
  • Kool aid to clean dishwasher pipes. Just put in the detergent section and run a cycle, it will also clean a toilet. (Wow, and we drink this stuff)
  • Kool Aid can be used as a dye in paint also Kool Aid in Dannon plain yogurt as a finger paint, your kids will love it and it won't hurt them if they eat it!
  • Peanut butter - will get scratches out of CD's! Wipe off with a coffee filter paper

Always amazes me on the everyday things we have around, how they can have more uses than what they are intended for. :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your week!

Did You Know??

Been a busy summer so far. We have had beautiful weather up here so far, but very dry and unfortunately we have lots and lots of forest fires in the state right now. So sad. I have been busy sewing for my upcoming local markets and festivals. I use to do these shows all summer long, but I decided this year to not spend all my weekends sitting at the markets and enjoy a little bit more of the summer so I am only doing 6 this summer. Then I will take a break and get ready for the Christmas shows. (Yikes...already saying that word!!!) :)  Spent a week visiting family and friends down in the lower 48 and had a party for my dad's 95th birthday. Yep...95 and he is still living at home, driving and very independent! Way to go Dad!!

So I thought today I would bring you a few more........Did You Knows......:)

1. Budweiser beer conditions the hair

2. Pam cooking spray will dry finger nail polish

3. Cool whip will condition your hair in 15 minutes

4. Mayonnaise will KILL LICE, it will also condition your hair

5. Elmer's Glue - paint on your face, allow it to dry, peel off and see the dead skin and blackheads if any. (Holy smokes!!!! Ya....like I am going to put glue all over my face!!) LOL!

6. Shiny Hair - use brewed Lipton Tea

7. Sunburn - empty a large jar of Nestea into your bath water

8. Minor burn - Colgate or Crest toothpaste

 9. Arthritis? WD-40 Spray and rub in, kill insect stings too (Ya...makes sense...your joints are stiff from arthritis so spray in the good ole WD-40!!)

Some of these are pretty funny! You got Cool Whip and Mayo so why not turn yourself into a salad! Ha!Ha!Ha! :) Well thought you all could use a good laugh today. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by. :)

More Things Your Mother Should Have Told You....

Mother's never told us anything did they....well here are a few more things your mother should have told you.....

mother

Ants, ants, ants everywhere … Well, they are said to never cross a chalk line. So get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants tend to march. See for yourself.

Use air-freshener to clean mirrors. It does a good job and better still leaves a lovely smell to the shine.

When you get a splinter, reach for the scotch tape before resorting to tweezers or a needle. Simply put the scotch tape over the splinter, then pull it off. Scotch tape removes most splinters painlessly and easily. I will have to try this one because hubby gets splinters all the time. I will let you know if it works. :)

Now look what you can do with Alka Seltzer. Clean a toilet. Drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets, wait twenty minutes, brush and flush. The citric acid and effervescent action clean vitreous china. Clean a vase. To remove a stain from the bottom of a glass vase or cruet, fill with water and drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets. Polish jewelry. Drop two Alka-Seltzer tablets into a glass of water and immerse the jewelry for two minutes. Clean a thermos bottle. Fill the bottle with water, drop in four Alka-Seltzer tablets, and let soak for an hour (or longer, if necessary). Unclog a drain. Clear the sink drain by dropping three Alka-Seltzer tablets down the drain followed by a cup of Heinz White Vinegar. Wait a few minutes, then run the hot water. WOW!! Who would have thought of all the uses for Alka Seltzer!! Guess it isn't just for an upset stomach is it.

Just a few more little tidbits to know. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! :)

DID YOU KNOW???

Oh my....I can't believe how fast time is going and the summer is almost over!! It seems all I do is run around in circles! With between keeping my stock up for my summer markets season and all the work we have to do around this house outside it seems I just don't get much time to visit with all of you.

We have been accomplishing some of our landscaping that we scheduled for this summer. I must say tho......I am getting wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to old to be shoveling all the dirt and gravel around! :(

So I thought I would share another installment of.....Did You Know. Just tidbits I hear and read and like to share with you here. :)

1. When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a bit of dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on outside of the cake.

2. If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it is still cooking, drop in a peeled potato and it will absorb the excess salt for an instant "fix me up." I don't use salt in much cooking as my hubby has a low salt tolerance, but maybe this would work.

3. Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

4.  Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield a beautiful glossy finish. My mother told me about this one. Now I just need to get busy and bake a pie. :)

5. Some people place a slice of apple in hardened brown sugar to soften it. I use a slice of bread and it works just as well.

6. When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the corn's natural sweetness. Hmmmmmm.....this is a good idea. I will have to try it.

So I hope some of these tidbits help with your cooking. Now if you are like me I need all the help I can get when it comes to cooking! :) Happy cooking!

Have a wonderful week! :)
